Buddy Watch Walk Day
Written by John Ring
On October 29, 2019, as I was walking across the country to raise awareness of Veterans’ issues, the City of Montgomery, AL, and former Mayor, Todd Strange, recognized October 29 as Buddy Watch Walk Day.
On October 20, 2020, Wood County, Texas, also proclaimed October 29 as Buddy Watch Walk Day in an effort to bring awareness to the issues our service-members and Veterans are plagued with, and to raise awareness of Veteran suicide.
To honor our service-members and Veterans that have taken their own lives, and to help those still struggling with the silent wounds of combat and service, we will walk 2.2 miles. We will remember the fallen, and the 22 on average Veterans a day that commit suicide in our country.
If you would like to join us, no matter where you live, walk 2.2 miles on October 29, raising awareness of our heroes that have lost the battle, and those who still Fight the War Within. Send us your videos and photos to Facebook, Instagram or to buddywatchwalk@gmail.com.
Not located near an organized walk location, organize your own or just walk 2.2 miles raising awareness of Veteran suicide.
